Founded in 1986 by Jean-Claude Baker as an homage to his adoptive mother, the legendary entertainer and activist Josephine Baker, this Theater Row piano supper club channels the lavish spirit of 1930s Paris. Beneath a blue-tin ceiling and surrounded by walls lined in crimson velvet, chandeliers illuminate vintage portraits and memorabilia of Baker throughout the room. The sound of live piano accompanies full table dining, featuring French bistro fare alongside a dedicated zinc bar where patrons can stop in for classic cocktails and wine. Rather than a quiet concert hall or ticketed venue, it functions as a social dining room where the music weaves through the buzz of conversation, drawing theatergoers from nearby Broadway houses before curtain and welcoming late-night diners long after the shows let out.
