Who’s Live Today?

Bill Dobrow LIVE at Roxy Bar

Roxy Bar2 Avenue of the Americas, New York 10013

Bill Dobrow brings his evolving Roxy Bar ensemble to a Wednesday night set. A drummer, percussionist and producer, Dobrow shapes these groups from his collaborations in jazz improvisation and music made for singers across a range of styles. The personnel is not fixed: the project draws on local and international players, so the evening is best understood as a Dobrow-led session rather than a billed, permanent band.

Based in New York City, Dobrow has toured and recorded with the Black Crowes, Sean Lennon, Yoko Ono, Norah Jones, Martha Wainwright, Lisa Loeb, Jesse Harris and Joseph Arthur & The New Professionals, featuring Mike Mills of R.E.M. His downtown appearances have included shows with Patti Smith, Rhymefest, Anthony Wilson and Vinicius Cantuaria, and he has played festival dates with Valerie June. In Brazil, he appears on chart-topping records by Maria Gadú and Tiago Iorc, and he co-produced Jesse Harris’s Sub Rosa in Rio. His work also reaches film and television, from the theme for Dragon Tales to scores for Outliving Emily and Sweet Micky For President.

Roxy Bar offers a stylish setting where live jazz fills the air, accompanied by a menu that caters to diverse tastes including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The room features plush seating and a well-stocked bar, creating a comfortable environment to enjoy performances by resident musicians or special guests. Shows typically run in the evening with sets from 6pm to 10pm, followed by DJs spinning vinyl late into the night. Weekend brunches also feature live music, blending dining and entertainment seamlessly. The venue balances attentive service with a relaxed vibe, making it a place to savor both cocktails and music without distraction. Its location in Tribeca adds a downtown charm, inviting guests to linger over oysters or a crafted cocktail while soaking in the sounds.
