Who’s Live Today?

Kelly Green Quartet

Zinc Bar82 West 3rd Street, New York 10012

Kelly Green brings her quartet to Zinc Bar for a set built around piano and voice, flute, bass and drums. Green is joined by flautist Elijah J. Thomas, bassist Luca Soul Rosenfeld and drummer Evan Hyde. Expect her original music alongside reimagined pieces by Mulgrew Miller and Duke Ellington, selections from the Blossom Dearie songbook, and other jazz-canon material. The group’s arrangements move between lyric-led takes on standards and Green’s outside-the-box compositions, with self-accompanied singing at the core.

New York City-based Green is a Steinway artist, pianist, vocalist and composer who leads what her band describes as a tight-knit ensemble. Thomas joined Rosenfeld and Hyde in the group in 2022. Green has shared stages with Wycliffe Gordon, George Coleman and Billy Hart, and has released five albums, with Eat Your Greens due in August 2026. Her 2025 recording Corner of My Dreams was called “one of the best Jazz vocal albums of the year” by Marc Meyers of Jazz Wax. All About Jazz’s Michael Bailey calls her “an artist and performer in toto,” adding that her composing skills are “more than impressive”; Christian McBride says, “Everything about her is joyous and swingin’!”

Zinc Bar offers a richly textured experience where the past and present of jazz converge in a single, dimly lit room adorned with Art Deco details like velvet upholstery, polished brass, and a Parisian zinc bar. The venue’s layout centers around a close-up stage and a vintage bar, creating a setting where the music is both the focus and a shared journey. Patrons can expect expertly crafted cocktails alongside performances that range from world-class jazz to vibrant Brazilian and African rhythms, often featuring multiple sets and occasional late-night jams. The seating is lounge-style, encouraging attentive listening rather than casual chatter, making it a place to immerse fully in the sound. This is a space where history lingers, once hosting legends like Billie Holiday and Thelonious Monk, now continuing their legacy with a sophisticated yet welcoming vibe.
