Jon Regen Quartet LIVE at Roxy Bar

Roxy Bar2 Avenue of the Americas, New York 10013

Jon Regen brings his quartet to Roxy Bar for a Thursday night set of live music. The billed group is a quartet, though the other players are not named; Regen leads as singer, songwriter and pianist. He is a resident musician at the Tribeca room, and the evening draws on the path between the instrumental jazz work that launched his recording career and the song-driven material he developed afterward.

Raised in Maplewood, New Jersey and identified as a New York musician, Regen studied as a protégé of pianist Kenny Barron and first worked as a sideman with jazz artists including Kyle Eastwood and Little Jimmy Scott. His collaborators on record include Andy Summers, Benmont Tench, Chuck Leavell and Nick Rhodes; his 2023 album Satisfied Mind featured Ron Carter, Rob Thomas and Pino Palladino. The Associated Press called his “sturdy songs, pleasing tenor and seven-foot grand” a “captivating combination,” while DownBeat wrote that his music “shoots from, and directly into, the heart.” Reviewing Satisfied Mind, The Telegraph heard “a young Billy Joel singing Bill Withers songs with a tumble of perfectly chilled piano notes.”

Roxy Bar offers a stylish setting where live jazz fills the air, accompanied by a menu that caters to diverse tastes including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The room features plush seating and a well-stocked bar, creating a comfortable environment to enjoy performances by resident musicians or special guests. Shows typically run in the evening with sets from 6pm to 10pm, followed by DJs spinning vinyl late into the night. Weekend brunches also feature live music, blending dining and entertainment seamlessly. The venue balances attentive service with a relaxed vibe, making it a place to savor both cocktails and music without distraction. Its location in Tribeca adds a downtown charm, inviting guests to linger over oysters or a crafted cocktail while soaking in the sounds.
