Champian Fulton Quartet
The Django2 6th Avenue, New York 10013
Champian Fulton brings her quartet to The Django for a piano-and-voice jazz set. Fulton leads from the keyboard and vocals, joined by Klas Lindquist on alto saxophone, Hide Tanaka on bass, and Fukushi Tainaka on drums. The four-piece format puts Fulton’s singing and piano at the front while giving the saxophone, bass, and drums a full role in the night’s swing.
With 12 albums to her credit, Fulton has been recognized as both Pianist and Vocalist of 2019 in the Hot House Magazine Readers Poll. The Django calls her one of the most gifted pure jazz musicians of her generation, and says her work has earned recognition from peers and critics for its distinction and sophistication. Her swinging style and charismatic performances have taken her across North America, Europe, Africa, and Australia, building a reputation as a guardian of the jazz legacy.
The Django offers a subterranean jazz experience inspired by Parisian boîtes, with vaulted ceilings and exposed brick walls that frame a stage equipped with a state-of-the-art Meyer Sound system. The venue combines two cocktail bars and an open dining area where you can enjoy an elevated menu alongside live performances every night. The evening unfolds with a focus on attentive listening, enhanced by award-winning cocktails crafted by Natasha David and a selection of small plates and dinner options. Shows require a cover charge and reservations are recommended to secure your spot. The setting invites you to settle in for a night of rich jazz sounds, fine food, and carefully mixed drinks, all within the cellar level of the Roxy Hotel, creating a distinct mood that feels both exclusive and welcoming.
