Jon Regen LIVE at Roxy Bar
Roxy Bar2 Avenue of the Americas, New York 10013
Jon Regen brings a live set to Roxy Bar, the Tribeca room where jazz is part of the nightly program. Billed here as singer, songwriter and pianist, Regen performs his own music alongside the bar’s cocktails and oysters. The listing presents the night as a chance to hear a musician whose work has moved from instrumental jazz into song-focused writing, rather than naming additional players or a specific set theme.
A New York native, Regen began as a jazz sideman with artists including Kyle Eastwood and Little Jimmy Scott, after studying with pianist Kenny Barron, before turning toward singer-songwriter records. His instrumental album Change Your Mind reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts. He has recorded with Andy Summers, Benmont Tench, Chuck Leavell and Nick Rhodes; his 2023 album Satisfied Mind features Ron Carter, Rob Thomas and Pino Palladino. The Associated Press called his “sturdy songs, pleasing tenor and seven-foot grand” a “captivating combination”; the Wall Street Journal described him as “a confident, soulful singer,” while DownBeat wrote that his music “shoots from, and directly into, the heart.”
Roxy Bar offers a stylish setting where live jazz fills the air, accompanied by a menu that caters to diverse tastes including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The room features plush seating and a well-stocked bar, creating a comfortable environment to enjoy performances by resident musicians or special guests. Shows typically run in the evening with sets from 6pm to 10pm, followed by DJs spinning vinyl late into the night. Weekend brunches also feature live music, blending dining and entertainment seamlessly. The venue balances attentive service with a relaxed vibe, making it a place to savor both cocktails and music without distraction. Its location in Tribeca adds a downtown charm, inviting guests to linger over oysters or a crafted cocktail while soaking in the sounds.
