ARTEMIS brings its current five-piece lineup to The Pocket: founder and pianist Renee Rosnes, trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, tenor saxophonist Nicole Glover, bassist Noriko Ueda, and drummer Allison Miller. The multinational, multigenerational ensemble will draw on the kind of collective jazz heard on its third Blue Note release, Arboresque, which combines originals by every member with new arrangements of classic material. This is a band of established bandleaders meeting in a single working group, with Rosnes’s writing and piano at its foundation.
Founded in 2017 by Rosnes and named for the Greek goddess, ARTEMIS has become a widely recognized contemporary jazz ensemble. A May 2025 appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert Series preceded further performances at major festivals and venues worldwide. NPR called the group “a killer line-up of players, composers and performers” converging on “an extremely cosmopolitan, sleek, rhythm-forward, modern sound.” The Guardian included Arboresque among its Top Ten Jazz Albums of 2025, praising its “cliché-free individuality and congenial collective spirit radiantly combined.” ARTEMIS was voted DownBeat’s Jazz Group of the Year in 2023, 2024, and 2025, and the Jazz Journalists Association named it Mid-Size Ensemble of the Year in 2024 and 2025.
The Pocket offers a close-up encounter with world-class jazz musicians in a small, focused setting where every note feels immediate and unfiltered. The room is designed to bring listeners near the performers, creating a direct connection that makes the music feel personal and vivid. Seating is limited and arranged to emphasize attentive listening rather than casual socializing, with a bar available to complement the experience.
