Woody Regan: Cowboys, Flowers & The Passage Of Time

Don't Tell Mama343 West 46th Street, New York 10036

MAC Award winner Woody Regan presents Cowboys, Flowers & The Passage Of Time at Don’t Tell Mama, a cabaret show directed by Tanya Moberly. Regan is joined by Phil Mougis on guitar, Frank Wagner on bass, and vocalist Evelyn Sullivan. The title frames the evening around cowboys, flowers, and time passing, with a small ensemble supporting the singer in the cabaret room.

Regan is a composer and musician who wrote and performs the music for When the World Was Green (A Chef’s Fable). His work also includes incidental scores for plays, and he has served as musical director and conductor for Elly Stone, Kaye Ballard, Lilliane Montevecchi, and David Staller in cabaret and concert settings. A review of an earlier solo show called it “charming,” noting Regan’s character voices and story songs that “arrive winningly part parlando.” The same writer described his two-steps as “campfire warm.” In that earlier show, he was backed by bassist Ritt Henn and guitarist Mougis, who also sang harmony.

Don't Tell Mama offers a distinctive cabaret experience with four separate spaces including a piano bar and two cabaret showrooms, where bartenders and servers often perform live music themselves. The venue features Mediterranean cuisine alongside a full bar, with a cash-only policy for food and drinks. Seating is limited and first come, first served, so arriving early is wise to secure a spot. Shows typically start in the evening with a 2-drink minimum and ticketed entry, often featuring multiple sets and a mix of seasoned headliners and rising talent. The room’s walls and layout create a close connection between performers and audience, making it a place to truly listen and engage with the music. Located on Restaurant Row in the Theater District, it blends dining and entertainment in a lively yet focused setting.
