Bossa Swings: Jobim and Getz Centennial brings the Julian Lee Quartet and vocalist Mar Vilaseca to Dizzy’s Club for a tribute to the musical connection between Antônio Carlos Jobim and Stan Getz. Lee plays tenor saxophone with Caelen Cardello on piano, Russell Hall on bass, and Matt Lee on drums, while Vilaseca supplies vocals. The program draws on the breezy character of Brazilian bossa nova and the easy swing of modern jazz, framing the Jobim and Getz centennials through a five-piece band.

Lee is a Juilliard graduate, a recipient of Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 2017 Emerging Artist Award, and a regular member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. His debut album, Clementine, has been described as acclaimed, and All About Jazz called him a “genuine talent.” He has performed with Wynton Marsalis, Christian McBride, Herlin Riley, Jon Batiste, and the Mingus Big Band. Vilaseca was born in Barcelona and is pursuing her career in the United States; her collaborators include Emmet Cohen and Jeremy Pelt.

Dizzy's Club offers a refined jazz experience with a seating capacity of about 140, where guests enjoy live performances from world-class musicians in a room that frames sweeping views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline. The venue features a full bar and a seasonal menu with sophisticated soul food, enhancing the evening beyond just the music. Shows are ticketed and typically run two sets per night, with late-night sessions available without reservation. The seating is generally first-come, first-served, encouraging early arrival for the best vantage points. The club’s location within Jazz at Lincoln Center places it in a lively cultural hub, making it ideal for a night that blends attentive listening with the pleasure of fine dining and cityscape views.
