Conrad Korsch Trio
The Django2 6th Avenue, New York 10013
Conrad Korsch brings his trio to The Django for a late-night set, with Korsch on bass, Marius Van Den Brink on piano, and Ross Pederson on drums. A bassist and vocalist, Korsch leads these Django dates from upright bass, singing his own arrangements of songs that reach across genres and generations. The format puts the emphasis on a working trio rather than a guest-led bill, with piano and drums framing Korsch’s bass lines and vocal interpretations.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Korsch has been a New York music-scene mainstay for more than three decades. His work ranges from house bands for Broadway productions, the Tony Awards, Saturday Night Live, the New York Pops, and television specials to bandleading and musical-director roles for Cyndi Lauper and Debbie Gibson. He toured internationally with Rod Stewart for more than 15 years, earned several platinum records, and performed with The Faces at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction; his collaborators also include Elvis Costello, Rosanne Cash, Bette Midler, and Carole King. Beyond sideman work, he has released two albums under his own name and composed for film, television, dance, and other artists. Reviewing his ballet score for Black Beauty, Graham Watts called it “a revelation,” praising its “robust, rhythmic flair” and “tuneful lyrical passages.”
The Django offers a subterranean jazz experience inspired by Parisian boîtes, with vaulted ceilings and exposed brick walls that frame a stage equipped with a state-of-the-art Meyer Sound system. The evening unfolds with a focus on attentive listening, enhanced by award-winning cocktails crafted by Natasha David and a selection of small plates and dinner options. Shows require a cover charge and reservations are recommended to secure your spot. The setting invites you to settle in for a night of rich jazz sounds, fine food, and carefully mixed drinks, all within the cellar level of the Roxy Hotel, creating a distinct mood that feels both exclusive and welcoming.
