Eliane Elias: Jobim Centennial Celebration
Jazz at Lincoln Center102 Columbus Circle, New York 10107
Eliane Elias marks Antônio Carlos Jobim’s centennial with a quartet tribute, playing bossa nova repertoire alongside songs from her new album. The Brazilian pianist and vocalist is joined by bassist Marc Johnson, drummer and percussionist Rafael Barata, and guitarist Leandro Pellegrino.
Born in São Paulo, Elias is known for bringing Brazilian music and jazz together and is considered one of the great interpreters of Jobim’s music. She has worked with Toquinho and Vinicius de Moraes, played in Steps Ahead, and collaborated with Randy Brecker and Herbie Hancock. Blue Note has praised her “dazzling right-hand runs.”
