Elona Krasavtseva: The First Draft – Songs For A New Season

Don't Tell Mama343 West 46th Street, New York 10036

Elona Krasavtseva opens Don't Tell Mama's 2027 cabaret season with The First Draft: Songs For A New Season, a one-night musical-theatre program built around reimagined Broadway repertoire and global storytelling. Krasavtseva sings with a live duo: Alex Chaplinsky on piano and Val Kornienko. The format makes room for playful audience participation and unscripted passages in which the crowd becomes part of the staging, alongside her theatrical vocals.

Krasavtseva is a solo classical-crossover lyric soprano, singer and storyteller who lives in St. Petersburg, Florida. Her repertoire spans opera, Broadway and popular song, performed in English, Ukrainian, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Russian and Yiddish; she is also a songwriter interested in Eastern European folklore. Her biography traces performances beginning in 2005, including appearances in Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, and notes five wins at music festivals and competitions in London, Minsk and Moscow. She also presents a Sarah Brightman tribute show, described by her management as “a stunning performance.” Other praise cited there calls her voice “crystal clear,” while Pavel Kudryavchenko calls it “The voice of tenderness, kindness and love.”

Don't Tell Mama offers a distinctive cabaret experience with four separate spaces including a piano bar and two cabaret showrooms, where bartenders and servers often perform live music themselves. The venue features Mediterranean cuisine alongside a full bar, with a cash-only policy for food and drinks. Seating is limited and first come, first served, so arriving early is wise to secure a spot. Shows typically start in the evening with a 2-drink minimum and ticketed entry, often featuring multiple sets and a mix of seasoned headliners and rising talent. The room’s walls and layout create a close connection between performers and audience, making it a place to truly listen and engage with the music. Located on Restaurant Row in the Theater District, it blends dining and entertainment in a lively yet focused setting.
