Twangville presents a three-songwriter bill: Brandon Callies, Robert Cody Maxwell and Bird Streets. The evening brings together Maxwell’s heartland-rock drive, Callies’ roots-rock and power-pop songwriting, and Bird Streets’ shifting guitar-pop approach.
Brooklyn songwriter Robert Cody Maxwell pairs unadorned lyrics with driving guitar arrangements, moving from folksy confessionals to rock and roll; he has also contributed instrumental work to releases by Silas Nello and Bobby Kitchens. Texas-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Brandon Callies fronts the Brandon Callies Band and Deadwind Howler, while his solo album Sunrise Diner traces romantic breakdown through guitar hooks and piano ballads. Bird Streets is Brooklyn artist John Brodeur’s band project. Its 2025 album The Escape Artist, made with Jason Falkner, moves from claustrophobic folk to dark power-pop and psychedelic-tinged indie; PopMatters called the project’s debut “a rock solid power-pop gem.”
