Strange Majik, the creative alter ego of New York City musician, songwriter and producer David Pattillo, plays Arthur’s Tavern. The listing presents the project as a live vehicle for Pattillo’s songs and his edgy blend of rock, blues, soul and funk, with guitar a noted part of the performance. Pattillo released the LP NYC Animal in 2024 on vinyl and digital formats.

Pattillo has more than 100 published songs and a long record in New York’s studio scene. His credits include writing and producing for Motown/Universal producer Linda Perry and the Berman Brothers, co-writing with Nashville Music Row collaborators, and work with Public Enemy, Sonic Youth, Moby and Beastie Boys. He also co-produced PBS’s Live From the Artists Den, receiving an Emmy nomination for the series, and hosted a show on Amazing Radio UK. Strange Majik has toured the US, UK and Europe, while Pattillo continues to produce emerging artists from his downtown NYC studio. His work has appeared in Goldmine, Shindig, Record Collector, Creem and The Deli, and his songs have been licensed for sports brands, television and film.

Arthur's Tavern is a basement club in the West Village where jazz, Latin, and blues are played with deep roots and modern energy. The stage is small, the room intimate, and the audience sits close to the musicians, often with a few people standing near the back. Shows start around 5 PM and go late, with some sets extending into the early hours. The club has a history of hosting top-tier performers since 2001, including regular appearances by Yuichi Hirakawa Jazz Group. It's a place where music is the center, and conversation flows naturally between the audience and the performers.
