Hector Martignon Trio LIVE at Roxy Bar

Roxy Bar2 Avenue of the Americas, New York 10013

Hector Martignon brings his trio to Roxy Bar in TriBeCa for a live afternoon set. The Colombian pianist and composer returns with a program shaped by his blend of jazz improvisation and influences from European classical music, Latin American folklore and world music. The evening is presented alongside the bar's cocktails and American fare.

Martignon has built a career around what the Smithsonian Institution's Latin Jazz exhibit calls exploration of the regional sources of Latin jazz. His albums Refugee from 2007 and Second Chance from 2010 received Grammy nominations. Earlier, he played in Ray Barretto's band before touring in a trio format. His album Portrait in White and Black was praised as “among the year’s best,” with keyboard work described as “technically clean and stylistically imaginative”; another review said he “swings with equal facility and conviction either in or out of clave.” His recording Foreign Affair has included guests Rubén Blades, Randy Brecker, Don Byron, Luis Bonilla and Donny McCaslin.

Roxy Bar offers a stylish setting where live jazz fills the air, accompanied by a menu that caters to diverse tastes including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The room features plush seating and a well-stocked bar, creating a comfortable environment to enjoy performances by resident musicians or special guests. Shows typically run in the evening with sets from 6pm to 10pm, followed by DJs spinning vinyl late into the night. Weekend brunches also feature live music, blending dining and entertainment seamlessly. The venue balances attentive service with a relaxed vibe, making it a place to savor both cocktails and music without distraction. Its location in Tribeca adds a downtown charm, inviting guests to linger over oysters or a crafted cocktail while soaking in the sounds.
