Strange Majik
Arthur's Tavern57 Grove Street, New York 10014
Strange Majik, the creative alter ego of New York City musician, songwriter and producer David Pattillo, plays Arthur’s Tavern. No live lineup has been announced for this date, but the project is billed around Pattillo’s blend of edgy rock, blues, soul and funk, with his guitar work a central part of the performance. Pattillo released the LP NYC Animal in 2024 on vinyl and digital formats.
Pattillo has more than 100 published songs and experience across New York’s studio scene, including work with Public Enemy, Sonic Youth, Moby and Beastie Boys. He has written and produced for Linda Perry and the Berman Brothers, co-produced PBS’s Live From the Artists Den, earning an Emmy nomination, and hosted a show on Amazing Radio UK. Touring has taken him through the US, UK and Europe, while his downtown New York studio remains a base for producing emerging artists. WFUV called Strange Majik and the Righteous Wrongs “A sensational collection of soul inspired rock ’n’ roll songs.”
Arthur's Tavern is a basement club in the West Village where jazz, Latin, and blues are played with deep roots and modern energy. The stage is small, the room intimate, and the audience sits close to the musicians, often with a few people standing near the back. Shows start around 5 PM and go late, with some sets extending into the early hours. The club has a history of hosting top-tier performers since 2001, including regular appearances by Yuichi Hirakawa Jazz Group. It's a place where music is the center, and conversation flows naturally between the audience and the performers.
