Ray Gallon Trio LIVE at Roxy Bar

Roxy Bar2 Avenue of the Americas, New York 10013

Ray Gallon brings his trio to Roxy Bar for a live set led by the NYC pianist. The billed formation is a trio, though the musicians joining Gallon for this date have not been named. Expect Gallon’s own approach to jazz, rooted in bebop and blues and shaped by an expressive, swinging touch that the venue says brings older and newer ideas together.

A lifelong New Yorker, Gallon has been a fixture of the jazz scene for more than three decades. Early mentorship from John Lewis, Hank Jones, and Jaki Byard helped ground a career that has included touring and recording with Ron Carter, Lionel Hampton, Art Farmer, George Adams, Les Paul, and Wycliffe Gordon. He has also worked with singers including Jon Hendricks, Sheila Jordan, and Chaka Khan, and appeared at the White House and Kennedy Center alongside Dizzy Gillespie, Milt Jackson, Sweets Edison, and Joe Williams. His trio album Make Your Move features David Wong and Kenny Washington, while Grand Company features Carter and Lewis Nash. The New York City Jazz Record calls Gallon “a brilliant pianist deeply rooted in the tradition.”

Roxy Bar offers a stylish setting where live jazz fills the air, accompanied by a menu that caters to diverse tastes including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The room features plush seating and a well-stocked bar, creating a comfortable environment to enjoy performances by resident musicians or special guests. Shows typically run in the evening with sets from 6pm to 10pm, followed by DJs spinning vinyl late into the night. Weekend brunches also feature live music, blending dining and entertainment seamlessly. The venue balances attentive service with a relaxed vibe, making it a place to savor both cocktails and music without distraction. Its location in Tribeca adds a downtown charm, inviting guests to linger over oysters or a crafted cocktail while soaking in the sounds.
