Ron Jackson Quartet

The Django2 6th Avenue, New York 10013

Ron Jackson brings his quartet to The Django for the late set, led by the acclaimed seven-string jazz guitarist, composer and arranger. The bill identifies a four-piece group, though no individual sidemen are named, and places Jackson’s modern jazz guitar work at the heart of the night.

Jackson is a world-renowned seven-string jazz guitarist who has performed, recorded and taught in more than 30 countries. A leader with 10 albums to his name, he has appeared at the North Sea Jazz Festival, Edinburgh Jazz Festival, Newark’s inaugural AAPI Jazz Festival and Super Jazz Ashdod in Israel. His most recent release, Standards And My Songs, reached the Top 10 of the USA JazzWeek radio charts and marked his second leader recording on seven-string guitar. He received a South Arts Jazz Road grant in support of his 2022 “Whatever’s Open” Tour. JazzTimes writer Adam Perlmutter calls Jackson “a master of the seven-string,” placing him “in the ranks of a select few.”

The Django offers a subterranean jazz experience inspired by Parisian boîtes, with vaulted ceilings and exposed brick walls that frame a stage equipped with a state-of-the-art Meyer Sound system. The venue combines two cocktail bars and an open dining area where you can enjoy an elevated menu alongside live performances every night. The evening unfolds with a focus on attentive listening, enhanced by award-winning cocktails crafted by Natasha David and a selection of small plates and dinner options. Shows require a cover charge and reservations are recommended to secure your spot. The setting invites you to settle in for a night of rich jazz sounds, fine food, and carefully mixed drinks, all within the cellar level of the Roxy Hotel, creating a distinct mood that feels both exclusive and welcoming.
