Marshall Crenshaw

Marshall Crenshaw headlines City Winery NYC’s Main Stage, joined by special guests Sarah Borges and Eric Ambel. The bill brings Crenshaw’s enduring songbook to Manhattan, including the hit “Someday, Someway” and such staples as “(You’re My) Favorite Waste of Time,” “Whenever You’re On My Mind,” and “Cynical Girl.”

Born in Detroit in 1953, Crenshaw settled in New York after an early break playing John Lennon in Beatlemania, first as an understudy and then with its West Coast and national touring companies. His 1982 self-titled debut followed the single “Something’s Gonna Happen” and established him as a songwriter, record maker, and guitarist; the album was acclaimed as a masterpiece on release. Across 13 albums, thousands of performances, Grammy and Golden Globe nominations, and screen work including playing Buddy Holly in La Bamba, he has maintained what the listing calls a commitment to artfulness, craftsmanship, and passion. Trouser Press wrote that, though initially viewed as “a latter-day Buddy Holly,” Crenshaw proved “too talented and original to be anyone but himself.”

City Winery at Pier 57 is a restaurant winery with live music on an intimate stage, offering a full evening experience that combines dinner, wine, and live music. Guests enjoy views of the Hudson River and Pier 57, located in Chelsea on Manhattan’s west side, near Chelsea Market. The intimate setting allows audiences to experience performances up close in a seated environment, with a diverse lineup including national touring artists, singer-songwriters, jazz musicians, and comedy shows.
