Jazzy Wednesday ft. Café Society Jazz Band

The Parlour at The Barclay111 East 48th Street, New York 10017

Jazzy Wednesday brings the Café Society Jazz Band to The Parlour at The Barclay for an early-evening set of classic jazz standards from the Great American Songbook, including songs associated with Sinatra. The Brooklyn group is led by bassists Jim Greene, tenor saxophonist Justin Flynn and vocalist Emily Wade Adams, joined by a rotating cast of New York musicians. The precise lineup for this performance has not been announced.

The Café Society is a Brooklyn, New York-based straight-ahead jazz quintet known for its Great American Songbook interpretations. The band has presented a Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley tribute tour and performed at the Broadway premiere party for Good Night Oscar. Its recording “Autumn Serenade” was selected as an All About Jazz Song of the Day, and All About Jazz says each of the group’s released recordings has received that distinction. Collaborators named in coverage include pianists Rick Germanson, Jeremy Manasia and Steve Einerson, plus guitarists Matt Chertkoff and John Merrill. Press praise quoted by the band calls its readings “captivating,” “classy,” “ravishing,” “magnetic,” “elegant,” and “heartfelt.”

A polished hotel restaurant and lounge directly adjacent to the Barclay’s historic 1920s grand lobby, The Parlour pairs classic live jazz with an extensive beverage program featuring dozens of specialty gins and classic New York cocktails. Guests take seats at a central circular bar or spread across well-spaced dining tables, where the room accommodates full meals, casual bites, and drink service without requiring ticket purchases or cover fees. The atmosphere is conversational and leisurely, making it a natural setting for early-evening drinks or dinner while resident musicians, including the Café Society Jazz Band and acoustic duos, perform Great American Songbook standards and jazz selections. With no standing-room crowd and plenty of table seating just blocks from Grand Central Terminal, an evening here unfolds as an easygoing, refined Midtown nightcap.
