Jon Regen Quartet LIVE at Roxy Bar
Roxy Bar2 Avenue of the Americas, New York 10013
Jon Regen brings his quartet to Roxy Bar for a Thursday night of live music in Tribeca. The billed singer, songwriter and pianist is a resident musician at the room, leading a quartet set rather than a solo appearance. The evening centers on Regen’s own performing, with the venue presenting him as a regular presence whose sets move between his jazz background and the song-driven work that has defined his later recordings.
Regen began as a sideman for jazz artists including Kyle Eastwood and Little Jimmy Scott, after studying as a protégé of pianist Kenny Barron. He first released acclaimed instrumental jazz records, then shifted into singer-songwriter work. His collaborators include Andy Summers, Benmont Tench, Chuck Leavell and Nick Rhodes; his 2023 album Satisfied Mind featured Ron Carter, Rob Thomas and Pino Palladino. Jamie Cullum premiered its title track on BBC Radio 2, and Jazz FM selected it as Album of the Week. The Telegraph heard “a tumble of perfectly chilled piano notes,” while the Associated Press praised the combination of his “sturdy songs, pleasing tenor and seven-foot grand.”
Roxy Bar offers a stylish setting where live jazz fills the air, accompanied by a menu that caters to diverse tastes including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The room features plush seating and a well-stocked bar, creating a comfortable environment to enjoy performances by resident musicians or special guests. Shows typically run in the evening with sets from 6pm to 10pm, followed by DJs spinning vinyl late into the night. Weekend brunches also feature live music, blending dining and entertainment seamlessly. The venue balances attentive service with a relaxed vibe, making it a place to savor both cocktails and music without distraction. Its location in Tribeca adds a downtown charm, inviting guests to linger over oysters or a crafted cocktail while soaking in the sounds.
