The Nick Moss Band featuring Dennis Gruenling

The Iridium1650 Broadway, New York 10019

The Nick Moss Band featuring Dennis Gruenling brings its traditional electric-blues lineup to the Iridium. Nick Moss handles guitar and vocals, with Gruenling on harmonica, Rodrigo Mantovani on bass, Pierce Downer on drums and Taylor Streiff on keyboards. Expect the group’s high-energy reading of old-school Chicago, Texas and West Coast blues, built around guitar, harp and a full rhythm section.

Formed in 2016, the band joins Chicago native Moss and New Jersey native Gruenling, two players with deep connections to electric blues. Moss was mentored by and played with Jimmy Rogers, Jimmy Dawkins and Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, and has also shared stages with Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Gary Clark Jr. and David Hidalgo. The group has won Blues Music Awards for Band of the Year in 2020 and 2024; its 2019 album Lucky Guy! reached the Top 10 of the Living Blues radio chart’s year-end albums list. Living Blues hears “fiery fretwork and wailing harmonica” in music it calls “soulful, playful and exuberant,” while AllMusic says the band makes the case for the vitality of old-fashioned Chicago electric blues in the 21st century.

The Iridium offers a nightly showcase of jazz, rock, and blues in a space designed for serious music lovers. The venue features a full dining experience alongside its live performances, allowing you to enjoy a meal while soaking in the sounds. The room is arranged to focus attention on the stage, with seating that invites you to settle in and listen closely to the musicians. Shows are ticketed, and the audience is there to engage deeply with the music rather than just socialize. The venue’s connection to legendary guitarist Les Paul adds a layer of history that enriches the experience. Expect an evening where the music takes center, supported by attentive service and a well-curated atmosphere that respects the art on display.
