Carlos Henriquez Nonet

Dizzy's Club102 Columbus Circle, New York 10107

Carlos Henriquez brings his award-winning nonet back to Dizzy’s Club for a program that blends jazz with Afro-Caribbean rhythms and draws on the cultural legacy of New York’s Nuyorican community. The bassist and composer leads a nine-piece band featuring trombonist Marshall Gilkes, tenor saxophonist Melissa Aldana, trumpeters Mike Rodriguez and Terell Stafford, conga player and vocalist Anthony Almonte, flutist and vocalist Jeremy Bosch, pianist Robert Rodriguez, and drummer Obed Calvaire. The engagement returns after last year’s sold-out run, with dynamic music and storytelling at the core of the set.

Henriquez is a bassist and composer, as well as a standout member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. His work connects jazz to Afro-Caribbean traditions while honoring his roots and the Nuyorican history that informs the music. This nonet places that perspective in a large-ensemble setting: brass and reeds alongside piano, bass, drums, congas, flute, and vocals, with Henriquez directing the group’s rhythmic and narrative flow. The billing identifies the ensemble as award-winning, and the return engagement follows the strong response to its previous Dizzy’s Club run.

Dizzy's Club offers a refined jazz experience with a seating capacity of about 140, where guests enjoy live performances from world-class musicians in a room that frames sweeping views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline. The venue features a full bar and a seasonal menu with sophisticated soul food, enhancing the evening beyond just the music. Shows are ticketed and typically run two sets per night, with late-night sessions available without reservation. The seating is generally first-come, first-served, encouraging early arrival for the best vantage points. The club’s location within Jazz at Lincoln Center places it in a lively cultural hub, making it ideal for a night that blends attentive listening with the pleasure of fine dining and cityscape views.
