Who’s Live Today?

Antoine Dowdell Group

Shrine

The Antoine Dowdell Group brings its jazz-standards repertoire to Shrine, recasting familiar material with what the group describes as “a pulsing relentless groove.”

A New York City act, the group was a mainstay at Harlem’s Paris Blues for five years. A 2016 account of a Paris Blues performance singled out saxophonist Ryoju Fukushiro.

Shrine offers a dynamic live music experience in a space that accommodates both seated and standing audiences, with a hardwood dance floor that invites movement as much as listening. The venue supports independent artists across diverse genres, hosting multiple bands per night with a full backline and professional sound engineering. Walls often feature monthly art exhibitions, adding a visual dimension to the evening. A full bar and food menu are available, making it easy to settle in for the night. Shows typically run into the early hours, sometimes followed by DJs spinning global beats, creating a lively flow from live sets to dance parties. The venue also screens major sporting events, blending cultural and social experiences in a single spot.
