Lea Salonga
54 Below254 W 54th St, New York 10019
Lea Salonga brings a holiday show to 54 Below on December 2. The bill names Salonga alone, with no musicians, guests, or performance formation announced for this date. The evening is presented as a seasonal cabaret appearance, with the venue promising a program to get audiences into the holiday spirit. It is a chance to hear a major musical-theatre voice in a setting devoted to live performance.
A Tony Award winner, global artist, and Disney Legend, Salonga is known onstage for Miss Saigon, Les Misérables, Old Friends, Once On This Island, Allegiance, and Aladdin. Her voice also anchors the singing roles of Jasmine in Aladdin and Mulan in Mulan. Earlier cabaret appearances have drawn especially strong notices: The New York Times called one “one of the year’s most satisfying cabaret shows,” while TheaterMania described another as “unmissable.”
A nonprofit cabaret venue dedicated to live music, 54 Below is a listening room where audiences gather to experience legendary artists performing in a dedicated space. The atmosphere is elegant and intimate, with a focus on the music and the performers. The room is designed for seated audiences, offering close proximity to the stage, and the experience is centered around the show rather than conversation or drinking. Shows are ticketed and require advance purchase, with a nonprofit mission that supports the arts. The venue has a strong reputation for excellence in theatre, as recognized by a 2022 Tony Award nomination.
