Preston Rupert Quartet

The Django2 6th Avenue, New York 10013

The Preston Rupert Quartet brings trumpeter Preston Rupert to The Django for a quartet performance. The New York-based student is billed as a young trumpet phenom, presenting his own place in the jazz continuum with a working small-group format. It is a chance to hear an emerging player leading a full evening set in TriBeCa.

Rupert moved to New York City in 2024 to continue his studies at The Juilliard School. Raised in a musical family and immersed in music throughout his life, he has also been mentored by several notable jazz visionaries. At 19, he has already appeared at Carnegie Hall, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw and London's Royal Albert Hall. His experience also includes the Vail Jazz Workshop and the National Youth Orchestra Jazz Orchestra, and he was a YoungArts winner with distinction in jazz. Those milestones frame this quartet date as a close look at a musician still developing his sound while already carrying substantial performance experience.

The Django offers a subterranean jazz experience inspired by Parisian boîtes, with vaulted ceilings and exposed brick walls that frame a stage equipped with a state-of-the-art Meyer Sound system. The venue combines two cocktail bars and an open dining area where you can enjoy an elevated menu alongside live performances every night. The evening unfolds with a focus on attentive listening, enhanced by award-winning cocktails crafted by Natasha David and a selection of small plates and dinner options. Shows require a cover charge and reservations are recommended to secure your spot. The setting invites you to settle in for a night of rich jazz sounds, fine food, and carefully mixed drinks, all within the cellar level of the Roxy Hotel, creating a distinct mood that feels both exclusive and welcoming.
