Petty People Holiday Show Featuring Steve Ferrone Of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
The Bitter End147 Bleecker Street, New York 10012
Petty People bring their holiday show to The Bitter End, joined by special guest Steve Ferrone of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. The New York Tom Petty tribute band will work through Petty and the Heartbreakers’ familiar classics, deeper catalog selections and rock and roll anthems, with Ferrone bringing the connection of a long-time Heartbreaker to the night. It is a holiday-focused salute to the music of Tom Petty, rather than a standard Petty People set.
Petty People is a New York rock group built around performing “The Music Of Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers” with “the Love and Respect it deserves.” Billed as a five-musician band, it is known for faithful versions of the songs, including hits and deep cuts; its presentations have also included video projections and behind-the-scenes stories. SOPAC calls the sound “timeless Americana roots rock” and says the group remains true to “the original arrangements and spirit.” Its programming director, Dan Stankus, praised the band for capturing the Heartbreakers’ “spirit, sound, and energy with incredible authenticity,” citing “spot-on” vocals and “top-notch” musicianship. Bitter End owner Paul Rizzo calls Petty People “a great live band with amazing musicians.”
The Bitter End has been a fixture of Greenwich Village since 1961, known as one of New York City's oldest rock clubs. It's a modest basement club with a stage and a bar, where the audience sits close to the performers. The room has exposed brick walls and a rustic feel, and the atmosphere is warm and conversational. Shows are typically ticketed with a small cover charge, and the evening combines listening to live music with casual conversation and drinks. The venue has hosted legends like Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell, and continues to be a place where songwriters and musicians share new material. It's a steady, reliable spot for live music in the city.
