Glenn Crytzer @ Festival Cafe

Festival CafeEast 61st Street, New York 10062

Glenn Crytzer brings his quartet to Festival Cafe for a program of American Songbook classics from the Jazz Age and Swing Era. The group is part of Crytzer’s ongoing Festival Cafe work, with a rotating lineup; the musicians for this date have not been specified. Its associated “Big Four” format centers on trumpet, clarinet or saxophone, guitar and string bass, though that exact personnel is not confirmed for November 5.

A New York City bandleader, guitarist, songwriter, arranger, banjoist and vocalist, Crytzer is known for work that brings Jazz Age and Swing Era music to life with what his site calls “unparalleled authenticity.” His ensembles have played Lincoln Center, the Rainbow Room and the USS Intrepid, while his original music has been performed by the Ann Arbor and Wheeling Symphony Orchestras. The Glenn Crytzer Orchestra won Best Group at the 2017 NYC Jazz Awards. Reviewers have called the music “Solid and Delightful” and “Swinging as hard as a night at the Roseland Ballroom”; Michael Steinman wrote that one track could pass for “an unissued 1930 Champion.”

Festival Cafe is a farm-to-bar cocktail café on Manhattan’s Upper East Side where seasonal ingredients, craft cocktails, and thoughtful hospitality come together. The space is lively on Thursday and Sunday evenings when live jazz takes center stage, drawing guests for cocktails and music. It’s a place where people gather for drinks, conversation, and shared meals; the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a focus on quality and community. Whether you're there for a quiet brunch or a lively night out, the menu changes seasonally with locally sourced fare, and the cocktails are made from scratch. The vibe is relaxed yet polished, blending laid-back charm with refined style in a neighborhood favorite spot.
