Jon Regen LIVE at Roxy Bar
Roxy Bar2 Avenue of the Americas, New York 10013
Jon Regen plays live at Roxy Bar on Sunday evening, billed as a singer, songwriter and pianist. The venue presents the performance alongside its cocktails and oysters, making this an early downtown set from an artist whose work moves between instrumental jazz and song-driven writing. Regen is a regular presence at the bar, where he serves as Entertainment Director for GrandLife Hotels.
A protégé of pianist Kenny Barron, Regen began as a sideman with jazz artists including Kyle Eastwood and Little Jimmy Scott, then released acclaimed instrumental jazz records before turning to singer-songwriter material. He has recorded with Andy Summers, Benmont Tench, Chuck Leavell and Nick Rhodes; his 2023 album Satisfied Mind featured Ron Carter, Rob Thomas and Pino Palladino. Jamie Cullum premiered its title track on BBC Radio 2, and The Telegraph gave the album four stars, writing, “Imagine a young Billy Joel singing Bill Withers songs with a tumble of perfectly chilled piano notes.” The Associated Press called his songs, tenor and grand piano “a captivating combination,” while DownBeat wrote that his music “shoots from, and directly into, the heart.”
Roxy Bar offers a stylish setting where live jazz fills the air, accompanied by a menu that caters to diverse tastes including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The room features plush seating and a well-stocked bar, creating a comfortable environment to enjoy performances by resident musicians or special guests. Shows typically run in the evening with sets from 6pm to 10pm, followed by DJs spinning vinyl late into the night. Weekend brunches also feature live music, blending dining and entertainment seamlessly. The venue balances attentive service with a relaxed vibe, making it a place to savor both cocktails and music without distraction. Its location in Tribeca adds a downtown charm, inviting guests to linger over oysters or a crafted cocktail while soaking in the sounds.
