Evan Palazzo & Friends
Birdland315 West 44th Street, New York 10036
Evan Palazzo & Friends returns to Birdland Theater with Palazzo at the piano, leading his trio through vintage jazz and songs from the Great American Songbook. The program is framed as “classic jazz for the 21st century,” bringing a modern makeover to older material while retaining Palazzo’s own vintage-jazz approach. The billed friends include surprise guest performers, so the personnel and additions to the trio are part of the night’s unfolding shape rather than announced in advance. Expect a focused single set built around piano-led arrangements, familiar songbook material, and guest turns.
Palazzo is a pianist and a co-founder of The Hot Sardines. That connection places this date in the same strand of music the listing identifies as vintage jazz, with the Great American Songbook central to the repertoire. His Birdland appearance is presented not as a historical reenactment but as an approach to classic jazz that keeps room for a contemporary edge: the core trio supplies the through line, while unannounced guests are intended to refresh the sound and extend Palazzo’s original style. No further biographical details, collaborators, or critical notices are provided for this performance.
