Norman Lasiter: Still Gray and Feelin’ Groovy!

Don't Tell Mama343 West 46th Street, New York 10036

Norman Lasiter brings Still Gray and Feelin’ Groovy! to Don’t Tell Mama, joined by his longtime music director and pianist Christopher Marlowe. A joyful follow-up to Lasiter’s popular Gray Pride, the cabaret show celebrates aging through songs and stories. Expect a personal program shaped by the singer’s feel for standards and Broadway material, with Marlowe at the piano.

Indianapolis-raised Lasiter is a cabaret singer whose work combines songs with autobiographical storytelling. His earlier Gray Pride was described as a musical memoir of an older, out gay man’s life, and he has performed in New York and Palm Springs as well as appearing at Carnegie Hall. He has also sung on an original Sony Music track. Tom Alvarez praised Lasiter’s “appealing baritone voice” and “substantial dramatic talent,” while Cabaret Scenes heard “lush vocals” and “silken tones.” A review of Still Gray and Feelin’ Groovy! found that he “truly charmed and delighted.”

Don't Tell Mama offers a distinctive cabaret experience with four separate spaces including a piano bar and two cabaret showrooms, where bartenders and servers often perform live music themselves. The venue features Mediterranean cuisine alongside a full bar, with a cash-only policy for food and drinks. Seating is limited and first come, first served, so arriving early is wise to secure a spot. Shows typically start in the evening with a 2-drink minimum and ticketed entry, often featuring multiple sets and a mix of seasoned headliners and rising talent. The room’s walls and layout create a close connection between performers and audience, making it a place to truly listen and engage with the music. Located on Restaurant Row in the Theater District, it blends dining and entertainment in a lively yet focused setting.
