Rock Hearts brings its five-piece Southern New England bluegrass outfit to Jalopy Theatre for an evening that draws on classic country, traditional bluegrass and songs recast through a bluegrass lens. The group’s repertoire joins original material rooted in bluegrass tradition with a contemporary approach, and the booking follows its selection as an official showcase band for IBMA’s 2026 World of Bluegrass in Chattanooga.
Formed in 2013, Rock Hearts built momentum after its 2020 debut Starry Southern Nights, with appearances at festivals across the Northeast and beyond, national bluegrass-chart success, and more than 700,000 views for its music videos. The band was also among 20 official showcase acts at IBMA’s 2021 World of Bluegrass in Raleigh. Its 2023 album Wanderlust included guests Michael Cleveland, Dale Ann Bradley and Jonathan Edwards; the title track and the gospel duet “Driving Nails” have received radio play on SiriusXM and bluegrass stations nationwide. Later, Unfinished Bridges produced charting songs including “Let Me Be the Best Bible,” while the recent “This Is Why” features Rhonda Vincent. Banjo player Joe Deetz has performed and recorded with Frank Wakefield, John Herald, Will Scarlet, Back Eddy, the Beach Boys and Carole King; guitarist and singer Alex MacLeod joined Tony Trischka’s Earl Jam Tour in 2024.
Jalopy Theatre offers a unique evening centered on folk and traditional music in a space that feels like a blend of a vintage music hall and a community gathering spot. The venue holds around 100 people, with seating that invites close-up listening, allowing you to catch every nuance of the acoustic performances. The walls reflect its roots in handmade and analog traditions, creating a setting where the music’s authenticity is palpable. Adjacent to the theatre, the Jalopy Tavern serves drinks late into the night, often with live music of its own, extending the experience beyond the main show. Shows are ticketed and often feature multiple sets, fostering a night where the music and the crowd’s focus are intertwined, making it a place to truly immerse yourself in the sounds and stories of roots music.
