Jazz Brunch! with Glenn Crytzer Quartet

Peck Slip Social235 Front Street, New York 10038

Jazz Brunch! brings the Glenn Crytzer Quartet to Peck Slip Social for an afternoon set of American Songbook classics from the Jazz Age and Swing Era. Led by guitarist and bandleader Glenn Crytzer, the quartet's Piano format is the group identified for the venue's Saturday brunch series: guitar, piano, bass, and a guest horn player or vocalist. The players for this particular date have not been named, but the focus is clear: songs from the swing-era songbook, played in a compact small-group setting.

Crytzer is a New York City-based bandleader celebrated for bringing the Jazz Age and Swing Era to life with what his site calls “unparalleled authenticity.” His small ensembles and orchestra have appeared at Lincoln Center, the Rainbow Room, the USS Intrepid, and The Django. The quartet's Songbook Sessions project documented 250 songs live for a streaming audience; contributors to that series include trumpeter Mike Davis, reed player Ricky Alexander, and bassist Ian Hutchison. Connor Ratliff of Rolling Stone wrote that Crytzer's music “could have been recorded 75 years ago,” calling it “Solid and Delightful.” Jazz Weekly's George Harris heard it “Swinging as hard as a night at the Roseland Ballroom,” while Joe Bebco of The Syncopated Times praised the playing as “exquisite, truly.”

Peck Slip Social is a basement club tucked into the Seaport District where music takes center stage in a room with a stage, a bar, and a few tables. Shows run from 7 PM to 10 PM, with the audience seated at small tables or standing near the stage. The bar is open for drinks before and after the performance, and the room is intimate enough that you can hear the band clearly from the back. It's a place where people come to listen, talk, and enjoy a night out with friends. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a mix of genres from jazz to rock. The venue has a history of hosting live music and continues to operate at its original location.
