Dodie

Blue Note131 West 3rd Street, New York 10012

Dodie brings Not For Lack of Trying to Blue Note for a full-album performance, with every song newly rescored for two clarinets. The evening focuses on a complete live reimagining of her second record rather than a career-spanning set, giving its delicate arrangements and self-examining songs a newly defined instrumental frame.

The English singer-songwriter, musician and author first built a devoted following on YouTube, developing an alt-pop and folk voice marked by intricate vocal harmonies, wit and candid close-up storytelling. Her songs often explore love, mental health, identity and growing up. Early EPs including Intertwined, You, Human and Hot Mess established her online audience, while her debut album Build A Problem reached No. 3 on the UK Official Albums Chart. Released in 2025 via Decca Records, Not For Lack Of Trying was written largely between London and Los Angeles and is described as a move from bedroom-pop intimacy toward richer, more cinematic songwriting. Dodie is also the author of Secrets for the Mad.

Blue Note Jazz Club is a dedicated listening room in the heart of Manhattan's jazz district, where the music is the focus and the space is designed to let the sound fill the room. The club features a stage with a small audience area, and the atmosphere is one of quiet concentration on the music. Shows typically begin at 8:00 PM with a second set at 10:30 PM, and the audience sits on chairs close to the stage. The club has a bar, and drinks are available. The experience is primarily about listening to live jazz, with occasional gospel and soul performances, and the audience often stays to talk and enjoy the music after the sets.
