National Sawdust presents FRANCISCA VALENZUELA MALDITA TOUR
National Sawdust80 North 6th Street, New York 11249
National Sawdust presents Francisca Valenzuela’s Maldita Tour. The Chilean-American singer-songwriter appears in her solo project, bringing the piano-based Spanish-language writing that the venue describes as “confessional, raw, poetic-alt-art-pop-piano.” The tour takes its name from Maldita, placing the focus on songs shaped by Valenzuela’s direct, personal approach to songwriting.
Born and raised in San Francisco, Valenzuela moved to Chile as a teenager and has become a notable figure in Chilean and Latin American pop. An independent artist who writes, composes, plays instruments and performs, she is also known for the hit “Dulce” and for founding and directing Ruidosa, a feminist festival and platform for women’s voices and gender equity in Latin American music. Her collaborators include U2, Miguel Bosé, Pablo Alborán, Mon Laferte, Natalia Lafourcade and Pedro Aznar. National Sawdust calls her “one of the boldest and daring artists of her generation in the Spanish language,” while Rolling Stone praised the “obsessive perfectionist” approach of Maldita, calling her “one of the most generous artists of her generation” and “a Latin American treasure.”
National Sawdust offers a unique evening where music and innovation meet in a thoughtfully designed space that once housed a sawdust factory. The main hall, seating up to 185 guests with flexible arrangements, features a cutting-edge Meyer spatial sound system that immerses you in every note. The room’s raw brick walls and crystalline architectural elements create a striking contrast, enhancing the focus on the performance. A full bar is available, inviting you to enjoy a drink while fully engaging with the diverse range of genres presented by both emerging and established artists. Shows are ticketed, and purchasing ahead is recommended to secure your spot in this intimate yet spacious venue. The experience is centered on listening and discovery, making for an evening that feels both special and thoughtfully curated.
