Carlos Henriquez Nonet

Dizzy's Club102 Columbus Circle, New York 10107

Carlos Henriquez brings his award-winning nonet back to Dizzy’s Club for a high-energy program that joins jazz to Afro-Caribbean rhythms, honoring his roots and New York’s Nuyorican cultural legacy. Henriquez plays bass alongside Marshall Gilkes on trombone, Melissa Aldana on tenor saxophone, trumpeters Mike Rodriguez and Terell Stafford, Anthony Almonte on congas and vocals, Jeremy Bosch on flute and vocals, Robert Rodriguez on piano, and Obed Calvaire on drums. The return follows the ensemble’s sold-out run here last year, with dynamic music and storytelling at the core of the evening.

Bronx-born bassist and composer Henriquez is a longtime member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. His work connects jazz, Afro-Latin traditions, and Puerto Rican and Bronx stories; DownBeat calls him “an emerging master in the Latin jazz idiom.” He has performed and recorded with Chucho Valdés, Stevie Wonder, Paco de Lucía, Tito Puente, Bob Dylan, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Willie Nelson, and Lenny Kravitz, and has collaborated with Rubén Blades at Jazz at Lincoln Center. JazzTimes praised his playing as “clean, crisp and to-the-point…jet fuel for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra,” while Latin Jazz Network described A Nuyorican Tale as nine original works “designed to please and to challenge.”

Dizzy's Club offers a refined jazz experience with a seating capacity of about 140, where guests enjoy live performances from world-class musicians in a room that frames sweeping views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline. The venue features a full bar and a seasonal menu with sophisticated soul food, enhancing the evening beyond just the music. Shows are ticketed and typically run two sets per night, with late-night sessions available without reservation. The seating is generally first-come, first-served, encouraging early arrival for the best vantage points. The club’s location within Jazz at Lincoln Center places it in a lively cultural hub, making it ideal for a night that blends attentive listening with the pleasure of fine dining and cityscape views.
