Cabaret Room: ZOE LEWIS-A band in a body!, 7:00pm

Pangea178 2nd Avenue, New York 10003

Zoë Lewis brings her pre-Thanksgiving Pangea show back to the Cabaret Room, joined by special guest Sam Kulik on trombone. Billed as “a band in a body,” Lewis moves through a one-woman set of songs and stories, drawing on vintage swing, Latin and gypsy grooves. Piano, ukulele and guitar are among the instruments named for the evening, with Kulik adding trombone to the arrangement. The program is presented as a festive, upbeat return that has become a Pangea tradition.

Originally from the UK, Lewis is a singer-songwriter, jazzy pianist, storyteller and plate spinner whose travels to more than 70 countries have supplied both musical grooves and tales. Her work brings together the sounds she has encountered on the road with a multi-instrumental performance style that accounts for the “band in a body” billing. She has toured with the Indigo Girls and Judy Collins, and most recently performed with Kate Pierson of the B-52s. For this show, those far-ranging influences land in a cabaret-scale performance built around Lewis’s songs, playing and storytelling, with trombone as a guest voice alongside her solo arsenal.

Pangea offers a distinctive evening where live music and dining merge in a cabaret setting that feels like stepping into a classic New York supper club. The room features communal seating arranged on a first-come, first-served basis, encouraging a shared experience among guests. The venue emphasizes the performers, with ticket prices supporting artists and production, while a $20 food and beverage minimum ensures a full dinner and drink service throughout the night. Shows typically start early evening, with the house opening at 6:00pm to allow ample time for ordering. Expect a night focused on attentive listening, where the music, from jazz to storytelling performances, takes center stage in a space designed for connection and immersion rather than casual chatter.
