The Oz Noy-Joe Bonamassa Band Feat. Steve Ferrone & Will Lee (late show)
The Bitter End147 Bleecker Street, New York 10012
The late show brings together guitarists Oz Noy and Joe Bonamassa, with Steve Ferrone on drums and Will Lee on bass. The billed quartet is an all-star blues-rock-fusion jam, built around the meeting of Noy and Bonamassa's guitar playing, Bonamassa's vocals, and the Ferrone-Lee rhythm section. It is a return to The Bitter End for a combination that has previously played the club together.
Israel-born Oz Noy emerged from New York City's music scene after moving there in 1996. Jazz Journal calls him “one of the most original and revered guitar players to emerge from the New York City scene,” noting a style that fuses “funk, rock, bop and the blues” and praising his “unique technique and raw, gutsy feel.” Noy has performed, toured or recorded with Bonamassa, while Ferrone and Lee both contributed to his album Booga Looga Loo. Reviewing an earlier Bitter End appearance by these players, The Village View called the performance “pure fire,” singled out Noy's solos and Ferrone and Lee's “rock-solid foundation,” and described Bonamassa as “a superb technically gifted player” able to play “with great feel.”
The Bitter End has been a fixture of Greenwich Village since 1961, known as one of New York City's oldest rock clubs. It's a modest basement club with a stage and a bar, where the audience sits close to the performers. The room has exposed brick walls and a rustic feel, and the atmosphere is warm and conversational. Shows are typically ticketed with a small cover charge, and the evening combines listening to live music with casual conversation and drinks. The venue has hosted legends like Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell, and continues to be a place where songwriters and musicians share new material. It's a steady, reliable spot for live music in the city.
