Jon Regen LIVE at Roxy Bar
Roxy Bar2 Avenue of the Americas, New York 10013
Jon Regen brings a live solo performance to Roxy Bar, the Tribeca room where the music is paired with cocktails and oysters. Billed as a singer, songwriter and pianist, Regen's set draws on a path that began in instrumental jazz and later moved into song-focused work. The evening is part of his Sunday and Monday Roxy Bar residency.
Regen is a longtime favorite on both sides of the Atlantic and a protégé of pianist Kenny Barron. Early in his career he worked as a sideman with Kyle Eastwood and Little Jimmy Scott, then made acclaimed instrumental jazz records before establishing himself as a singer-songwriter. His collaborators include Andy Summers, Benmont Tench, Chuck Leavell and Nick Rhodes; his 2023 album Satisfied Mind features Ron Carter, Rob Thomas and Pino Palladino. Jamie Cullum premiered its title track on BBC Radio 2, while The Telegraph heard “a young Billy Joel singing Bill Withers songs with a tumble of perfectly chilled piano notes.” The Associated Press praised his “sturdy songs, pleasing tenor and seven-foot grand,” and DownBeat wrote that his music “shoots from, and directly into, the heart.”
Roxy Bar offers a stylish setting where live jazz fills the air, accompanied by a menu that caters to diverse tastes including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The room features plush seating and a well-stocked bar, creating a comfortable environment to enjoy performances by resident musicians or special guests. Shows typically run in the evening with sets from 6pm to 10pm, followed by DJs spinning vinyl late into the night. Weekend brunches also feature live music, blending dining and entertainment seamlessly. The venue balances attentive service with a relaxed vibe, making it a place to savor both cocktails and music without distraction. Its location in Tribeca adds a downtown charm, inviting guests to linger over oysters or a crafted cocktail while soaking in the sounds.
