Kelly Green Quartet
Zinc Bar82 West 3rd Street, New York 10012
Kelly Green brings her quartet to Zinc Bar for an evening of original music and reimagined material by Mulgrew Miller and Duke Ellington, alongside selections from the Blossom Dearie songbook and the jazz canon. Green plays piano and sings, joined by Elijah J. Thomas on flute, Luca Soul Rosenfeld on bass, and Evan Hyde on drums. The group’s repertoire moves between Green’s compositions and these carefully chosen songbook and jazz works.
A Steinway artist, Green is an award-winning pianist, vocalist, and composer whose work is built around singing while accompanying herself at the piano. Her recordings include Life Rearranged, Kelly Green Trio: Volume One, Endings That Are Beginnings, Seems, and Corner of My Dreams, with Eat Your Greens due in August 2026. JazzWax’s Marc Meyers called Corner of My Dreams “one of the best Jazz vocal albums of the year.” Christian McBride describes Green as “one of the most talented and spirited people I know,” adding that “everything about her is joyous and swingin’.” All About Jazz’s Michael Bailey calls her “an artist and performer in toto.” Green has shared the stage with Wycliffe Gordon, George Coleman, and Billy Hart.
Zinc Bar offers a richly textured experience where the past and present of jazz converge in a single, dimly lit room adorned with Art Deco details like velvet upholstery, polished brass, and a Parisian zinc bar. The venue’s layout centers around a close-up stage and a vintage bar, creating a setting where the music is both the focus and a shared journey. Patrons can expect expertly crafted cocktails alongside performances that range from world-class jazz to vibrant Brazilian and African rhythms, often featuring multiple sets and occasional late-night jams. The seating is lounge-style, encouraging attentive listening rather than casual chatter, making it a place to immerse fully in the sound. This is a space where history lingers, once hosting legends like Billie Holiday and Thelonious Monk, now continuing their legacy with a sophisticated yet welcoming vibe.
