Damien Escobar - Art of a Gentleman Tour
City Winery NYCHudson River Park Esplanade, New York 10014
Damien Escobar brings his Art of a Gentleman Tour home to New York City for a special pre-Christmas performance. The Jamaica, Queens-born solo violinist continues his mission to bring contemporary instrumental violin to a wider audience.
A two-time Emmy Award winner known as the “King of Strings,” Escobar graduated from Juilliard at 12, played for commuters in New York’s subways, and later performed for Oprah and the Obamas. First known in the violin duo Nuttin’ But Stringz with his brother Tourie, he now works as a solo artist, blending hip-hop and classical music with R&B, funk and pop elements. His song “Taboo” reached No. 1, and reviewers have praised his “technical brilliance” and “raw feeling.”
