Hector Martignon Trio LIVE at Roxy Bar

Roxy Bar2 Avenue of the Americas, New York 10013

Hector Martignon brings his trio back to Roxy Bar for a live afternoon performance. The Colombian pianist and composer leads the group in a set rooted in his expansive approach to jazz, as the TriBeCa room pairs the music with cocktails and American fare. It is a chance to hear Martignon in the trio format, where his writing and improvising can move between several musical traditions.

Martignon is an acclaimed Colombian pianist and composer whose albums Refugee from 2007 and Second Chance from 2010 were nominated for Grammy Awards. He is known for crossbreeding jazz improvisation with Classical European music, Latin American folklore and World Music. The Smithsonian Institution includes him among the leading artists “exploring the regional sources of Latin Jazz” in its Latin Jazz exhibit. That combination of regional source material and open improvisation is central to the work he brings to the piano.

Roxy Bar offers a stylish setting where live jazz fills the air, accompanied by a menu that caters to diverse tastes including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The room features plush seating and a well-stocked bar, creating a comfortable environment to enjoy performances by resident musicians or special guests. Shows typically run in the evening with sets from 6pm to 10pm, followed by DJs spinning vinyl late into the night. Weekend brunches also feature live music, blending dining and entertainment seamlessly. The venue balances attentive service with a relaxed vibe, making it a place to savor both cocktails and music without distraction. Its location in Tribeca adds a downtown charm, inviting guests to linger over oysters or a crafted cocktail while soaking in the sounds.
