Adam O'Farrill ELEPHANT

The Jazz Gallery1160 Broadway, New York 10001

Adam O’Farrill brings ELEPHANT to The Jazz Gallery, presenting his quartet’s music in a group setting. The band’s self-titled 2026 album frames the project through post-bop, electronic music and classical minimalism, with reference points including Radiohead, Jonny Greenwood’s film scores and Ryuichi Sakamoto. The Jazz Gallery has described O’Farrill’s writing as “radiant and free-flowing in its melody” while “geometric and off-kilter in its rhythm.”

Brooklyn-born and raised, O’Farrill is a trumpeter and composer whose collaborators include Mary Halvorson, Hiromi, Anna Webber, Mulatu Astatke, Tyshawn Sorey, Son Lux, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Samora Pinderhughes, Kaoru Watanabe, Photay and Stimmerman. NPR has noted his work as a sideman in notable groups and suggested that ELEPHANT “could be the start of a pivotal group in jazz.” Reviewing the album, PopMatters called it “easily one of the best jazz recordings of 2026 so far,” praising music that is “beautiful and exciting”; Nate Chinen called it “one of the most artistically compelling statements of his career.”

The Jazz Gallery offers a focused listening room experience on the fifth floor of a Midtown office building, where the audience gathers to hear progressive jazz performed by emerging and established artists. The space is designed to highlight the music without distractions: seating is arranged to bring listeners close to the performers, fostering a direct connection with the sound. There is no food service, but a bar is available, and ticket prices are modest, encouraging accessibility. Shows typically run from 7 to 11 pm on select nights, featuring multiple sets that invite deep engagement rather than casual socializing. The venue’s commitment to artistic growth is evident in its support for new compositions and collaborations, making an evening here a chance to witness jazz as a living, evolving art form in a setting that respects both the musicians and the audience.
