Marcus Goldhaber
The Green Room 42460 West 42nd Street, New York 10036
Marcus Goldhaber is billed at The Green Room 42 in Manhattan. The available show information names Goldhaber but gives no details about accompaniment, repertoire, guests, a release, or any special format for the evening. What is clear is that this is a chance to hear a New York jazz singer and songwriter whose work moves between original songs and reimagined Great American Songbook material.
Born and raised in Buffalo, Goldhaber is known for a story-driven approach to both standards and songwriting. His album The Promise of You features pianist Art Hirahara, bassist Michael O’Brien, and drummer Alvester Garnett, with guest contributions from guitarist Paul Bollenback, multi-reed player Jay Rattman, trumpeter Summer Camargo, and percussionist Keita Ogawa. He has also shared New York stages with Les Paul, Vince Giordano, and Bono. Jazz Improv Magazine calls his voice “gorgeous and sensitive”; JazzTimes has described him as “wonderfully imaginative” and praised the “velvet tone” suited to his arrangements. Jazziz calls his work “exciting and fresh,” while Bistro Awards hears “a whole new level of musical mastery” in The Promise of You.
The Green Room 42 offers a spacious cabaret experience on the fourth floor of Yotel in Manhattan, where Broadway stars and emerging artists perform live music and theatrical shows. The room features an elevated stage and streamlined seating with banquettes and private tables, ensuring good sight lines and a comfortable view from anywhere. Guests can enjoy a curated menu of small plates and signature cocktails while immersing themselves in performances that range from solo theater pieces to jazz and cabaret. Shows are ticketed, with no food or drink minimum, allowing the audience to focus on the music and storytelling in a setting that balances attentive listening with a lively night out. The venue’s walls are adorned with a mural honoring past performers, adding a unique touch to the vibrant space.
