Who’s Live Today?

Ricardo Grilli Quartet

The Django2 6th Avenue, New York 10013

Ricardo Grilli brings his quartet to The Django for a late-night set. The New York-based guitarist leads the four-piece group, drawing on his original music and standards in a program the venue describes as modern, melodic, dynamic, grooving and swinging.

Grilli arrived in New York in 2012 and has since made his mark on the city’s jazz scene. He has performed with Chris Potter, Chris Cheek, Mark Turner, Aaron Parks, Joe Martin, Eric Harland, Kendrick Scott, Kevin Hays and Taylor Eigsti, as well as headlining clubs in New York and abroad. Nate Chinen of The New York Times called him “a post-bop guitarist with a sideline interest in the cosmos and a taste for the ultramodern.” In DownBeat, Bill Milkowski wrote that Grilli’s “considerable chops are in full effect in each setting,” calling the record an “admirable outing by a new face on the scene.”

The Django offers a subterranean jazz experience inspired by Parisian boîtes, with vaulted ceilings and exposed brick walls that frame a stage equipped with a state-of-the-art Meyer Sound system. The venue combines two cocktail bars and an open dining area where you can enjoy an elevated menu alongside live performances every night. The evening unfolds with a focus on attentive listening, enhanced by award-winning cocktails crafted by Natasha David and a selection of small plates and dinner options. Shows require a cover charge and reservations are recommended to secure your spot. The setting invites you to settle in for a night of rich jazz sounds, fine food, and carefully mixed drinks, all within the cellar level of the Roxy Hotel, creating a distinct mood that feels both exclusive and welcoming.
