Cabaret Room: “Love Dogs” Carol Lipnik with Gordon Beeferman on piano, 7:00pm
Pangea178 2nd Avenue, New York 10003
Carol Lipnik continues her Pangea residency with pianist Gordon Beeferman for Love Dogs, a program of new original songs and covers. The songs take up nature, mortality, fate and love, seeking humor, beauty and catharsis amid present-day uncertainty.
Born and raised in Coney Island, Lipnik is a New York singer-songwriter whose work draws on 70s art-rock, theater music, Eastern mysticism and opera. The New York Times called her an “ethereal vocal phenomenon.” Beeferman is a New York-based composer, organist and pianist whose music, according to the Times, is “complex and daringly modern.”
Pangea offers a distinctive evening where live music and dining merge in a cabaret setting that feels like stepping into a classic New York supper club. The room features communal seating arranged on a first-come, first-served basis, encouraging a shared experience among guests. The venue emphasizes the performers, with ticket prices supporting artists and production, while a $20 food and beverage minimum ensures a full dinner and drink service throughout the night. Shows typically start early evening, with the house opening at 6:00pm to allow ample time for ordering. Expect a night focused on attentive listening, where the music, from jazz to storytelling performances, takes center stage in a space designed for connection and immersion rather than casual chatter.
