Jon Regen LIVE at Roxy Bar
Roxy Bar2 Avenue of the Americas, New York 10013
Jon Regen brings his Roxy Bar residency to this Monday evening with a solo piano set. The native New Yorker, singer, songwriter and pianist will play live alongside the bar’s cocktails and oysters, drawing on the jazz and pop blend that has defined his move from instrumental recordings into song-based work.
A protégé of pianist Kenny Barron, Regen began as a sideman for Kyle Eastwood and Little Jimmy Scott before releasing acclaimed instrumental jazz albums and developing his work as a singer-songwriter. His recordings have included collaborations with Andy Summers, Benmont Tench, Chuck Leavell and Nick Rhodes; his 2023 album Satisfied Mind featured Ron Carter, Rob Thomas and Pino Palladino. His instrumental album Change Your Mind reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts. The Associated Press called his “sturdy songs, pleasing tenor and seven-foot grand” “a captivating combination”; the Wall Street Journal described him as “a confident, soulful singer,” while DownBeat wrote that his music “shoots from, and directly into, the heart.”
Roxy Bar offers a stylish setting where live jazz fills the air, accompanied by a menu that caters to diverse tastes including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
