Jazz with Antonio Ciacca
TwoE Lounge at The Pierre6 East 61st Street, New York 10065
Antonio Ciacca, The Pierre’s artist-in-residence, plays a live jazz set. The billed performance does not specify whether he will appear solo or with an ensemble.
Born in Germany and raised in Italy, Ciacca is an acclaimed pianist and composer whose bebop-influenced music draws on a deep-rooted love of gospel. He has worked with Steve Lacy, Benny Golson, Art Farmer, Lee Konitz, James Moody, Dave Liebman and Steve Grossman. All About Jazz described his work as having “clean lines and rhythmic heft still anchored to a swing feel.”
Originally constructed in 1930 as The Pierre's Gentlemen’s Library, the room was redesigned by Alexandra Champalimaud into a refined cocktail parlor featuring decorative ceiling mouldings, plush banquettes, small round tables, and a back bar illuminated in deep fuchsia tones. Evenings here center on seated entertainment where live jazz trios, pianists, and vocalists perform classic standards without an admission charge or cover. Patrons settle into upholstered seats to converse over craft cocktails, oysters, and elevated small plates rather than crowding a standing area, making the venue function both as an upscale night out and an attentive setting for live music. The room operates from late afternoon through midnight, providing table service alongside bar seating steps away from Central Park.
