LIVESTREAM | Nicolas King: No Bad Chords — Album Release Concert

54 Below254 W 54th St, New York 10019

Nicolas King brings No Bad Chords to a live online audience from 54 Below, an album-release concert and encore of his new tribute to Mike Renzi. King celebrates the music, memory, and arrangements of Renzi, his friend and musical director for 14 years, with Tedd Firth leading the musical direction. The program looks back on a partnership that included hundreds of concerts around the world and three albums before Renzi’s death in 2021.

King’s stage work includes Broadway’s A Thousand Clowns, alongside Tom Selleck, Carol Burnett’s Hollywood Arms, directed by Hal Prince, and a long-running turn as Chip in Disney’s Beauty & The Beast. His screen credits range from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel to two appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. A 2025 MAC Award winner for Best Major Male Vocalist, he has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Ronnie Scott’s, Birdland, and 54 Below, and has collaborated with Neil Simon, Tony Danza, Linda Lavin, Jane Monheit, Norm Lewis, Debby Boone, Billy Paul, and Jennifer Holliday. He also spent more than a decade opening for his mentor, Liza Minnelli. Renzi’s own collaborations spanned Mel Tormé, Lena Horne, Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Lady Gaga; Ella Fitzgerald called him “the best accompanist in the world.”

A nonprofit cabaret venue dedicated to live music, 54 Below is a listening room where audiences gather to experience legendary artists performing in a dedicated space. The atmosphere is elegant and intimate, with a focus on the music and the performers. The room is designed for seated audiences, offering close proximity to the stage, and the experience is centered around the show rather than conversation or drinking. Shows are ticketed and require advance purchase, with a nonprofit mission that supports the arts. The venue has a strong reputation for excellence in theatre, as recognized by a 2022 Tony Award nomination.
