Jazz Brunch! with Glenn Crytzer Quartet

Peck Slip Social235 Front Street, New York 10038

Jazz Brunch! brings the Glenn Crytzer Quartet to Peck Slip Social for an afternoon set. The billed quartet is the group’s piano-brunch format, built around Crytzer on guitar with piano, bass, and a guest horn player or vocalist. The precise personnel for this date have not been announced, but the program draws on jazz and American Songbook material from the 1920s through the 1940s.

Crytzer leads New York City-based small groups devoted to the sound of the Jazz Age and Swing Era, using arrangements and instrumentation that shift with the occasion. His quartet’s Songbook Sessions recorded 250 songs live in chronological order, spanning 1920 to 1944. Crytzer’s orchestra won Best Group in New York at the 2017 NYC Jazz Awards, and recordings by his ensembles have appeared in film and television. The Syncopated Times called the quartet’s playing “exquisite” and described Crytzer as “a guitar wonder”; Jazz Weekly heard it as “Swinging as hard as a night at the Roseland Ballroom.”

Peck Slip Social is a basement club tucked into the Seaport District where music takes center stage in a room with a stage, a bar, and a few tables. Shows run from 7 PM to 10 PM, with the audience seated at small tables or standing near the stage. The bar is open for drinks before and after the performance, and the room is intimate enough that you can hear the band clearly from the back. It's a place where people come to listen, talk, and enjoy a night out with friends. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a mix of genres from jazz to rock. The venue has a history of hosting live music and continues to operate at its original location.
